Maintaining the Carbon Neutrality of Biomass
Biomass energy is integral to manufacturing International Paper’s products and biomass residuals are the primary source of energy in our mills. The company generates significant volumes of bio-energy and procures the fiber from sustainably managed forests to ensure they remain healthy and productive for future generations. As the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency considers how to regulate biogenic CO2 emissions, International Paper urges policymakers and the Agency to recognize our biomass use as carbon neutral.
