Open Days in Russia and Poland

To engage with employees' families and the wider community, annual Open Days are held at International Paper’s mills in Svetogorsk, Russia and Kwidzyn, Poland.

Svetogorsk Mill

At the Svetogorsk Mill the families of employees are welcomed at an annual Open Day event. The visit begins with a historical overview of the site and continues with a tour of the mill’s operations. For children under twelve, who cannot join the tour for safety reasons, mill volunteers provide an interactive presentation on the papermaking process.

In addition to the annual event, every month Svetogorsk Mill opens its doors to local high school students. During these visits the students learn about International Paper and the papermaking industry. Topics cover everything from forestry and manufacturing processes to management and social responsibility.

Kwidzyn Mill

The Kwidzyn Mill receives visitors five times a year on selected Saturdays. Divided into five groups of up to 30 people, the guests start out by watching a film on papermaking. It is followed by a presentation about environment, health and safety. The visitors then take a mill tour to see the papermaking process first hand. Many employees assist with these events and the feedback from visitors is very positive. No wonder that the number of people attending these Open Days keeps growing.
